We All Have Survived The First Week Of Preschool

Year number five gets underway with a small first-day crew.

It's going to seem crazy but today we had two yahoos ready to start preschool.  They were excited about it.

The doormat is perfect!

She is so excited!  Her backpack is almost as big as she is.

Colton is excited most of the time so far.  He just has yet to warm up to all the newness of everything.  But I'm guessing it will take him only a short time until he comes into his own.

First things first. I love 'school' books.  Froggy is one of my favorites.  I love to yell Froggy in a crazy voice that gets the yahoos so tickled.

Everyone has a basket that contains all of their school supplies.

One of the first things that Colton saw was Gabe, his next-door neighbor on the wall.  That thrilled him to death!

And then he found Medium the tadpole.  He is obsessed with checking him out.  He must see if he is still sleeping about every 5 minutes.

Bailey's first spin at the Art Table.

Colton discovered that there were smelly markers on the Writing Table.

Everyone has a step cubby.

And they are learning to find their names.

We went outside in search of leaves for painting.

Everyone needed to wash the paint off.  And they do it all by themselves.

Time for some table work.

Bailey is excited about learning to write her name.

This Busy Box is a big hit.

We are trying something new this year.  They are responsible for making sure all their papers go into their folders correctly.

I'm hoping their Kindergarten teachers will be glad they already know how to do this.

We not only work on things in the schoolroom.  But the lunch table is a place where things are taught too.  School doesn't end when the backpacks are packed and hanging on the hooks.

I would say that day one was a success!

DAY TWO

We started the day out by learning about jobs in the classroom.  Bailey is the flag holder this week.

This might sound so silly but this is one of my favorite activities...Just a dot...not a lot.

It is such a challenge for those little fingers to squeeze a bottle of glue.

We work those little fingers muscles as much as we can.

Nice cutting.  Thumbs up buttercup!

Opening clothespins is so hard to master.

But Colton figured out a way to open them using his elbow.  I kid you not...with his elbow.

Remember when I said this was a popular Busy Box?

It was a must that we read this one today.  Everyone has new school shoes in their cubbies.

Wednesday Workbooks

Working on those colors.

Tracing the letters of their names.

Look at that smile!  I think he is having a great time.

Bailey practiced her writing her name.

While waiting for Gabe to get off the bus we explored the front porch to see if we could find any creatures.

Now that is how you make a Lunchable sandwich.  I don't think he ever got it all in his mouth at one time.

Bailey's dad was coming to pick her up for lunch so she had a Bluey picnic while she waited.

Day two in the books.  Another success!

DAY THREE...END OF THE FIRST WEEK OF PRESCHOOL

Beckett will only be with us on Thursdays until his preschool starts in October.  We will be sad to see him go.  But we will learn and have fun while we can!

He is a thinker and he loves to set a timer!

Beckett got to be our calendar person today.  I was is stand-in on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Gabe checked out the room every morning before he got on the bus.  Yesterday he wanted to know where the weather chart that we used last year was.  I told him that I couldn't find it.  He told me that I better get on it and make a new one.  I did and this one is a little simpler than the old one.  The bonus is that it has a song with it, which I am a bit rusty on.  Just ask Pappy.

More just a dot...not a lot of practice.

Beckett was the first one to discover the glue sticks.

Bailey loves a good mark on the paper.

Beckett trying so hard to trace the letters in his name.

A new Busy Box.

I think I might need to make a few more of these busy boxes.
