And We Are Off

The first day started out early!   I guess really they all did because we were literally an hour away for everything.  We kept the road hot!

Waking up to this every morning isn't half bad!

Oh, what brave soles we have! You can't see it from here but there is a little bitty tiny smidge of a catwalk under the bridge.  It vibrates when cars and semis are going over.

When we pulled into the parking lot Ellis thought they were going to be rappelling off the bridge.  He was shaking in his shoes!

The waiting was the stressful part.

Ready to go!!!

In the beginning...

...it doesn't look too bad.

But the further out you go the river gets smaller and smaller.

And further and further away.

They are nuts in my book!

Nope not ever in a million years.

He's looking for that money shot.

Don't worry they are tethered in.

Just sitting down in the center of the bridge to take a little break.

Ellis doubled up on the cameras.

The lady beside them was in tears! Literally crying.

They walked clear to the other side.  It is that little speck of light at the other end of the walkway.

You better believe I did not do it.  I did drive that monster of a truck down to Fayette Station to see if I could see them.  The road down wasn't too bad only two switchbacks that I had to back up for.  But coming back, up the road that was barely hanging onto the side of the mountain.  A rock wall on the right with a death fall on the left.  Jesus and I had lots of loud conversations on the way up.

We had lunch at Pies and Pints.  Yummy!  And yes half of the pizza has pickles on it.

A pit stop at the grist mill at Babcock State Park.

They love a good creek.

Dinner under the trees.  Cassie planned our menu for the week and everyone helped prep, cook, and clean up.

Alaire and I had a little watercoloring 'competition."

I think we both understood the assignment.

After a long hot, hard day the hammock time hit the spot.
