A Little Trip To CEI
Cincinnati Eye Institute is no stranger to us. Seems like Mark makes a few trips a month. This trip it was my turn to register. I have been putting off having cataract surgery for about a year for all legit reasons to me but not so much for Mark.
It looks like I have orange skin around my eye but no. They have given me all the eye drops and prepared the area for the procedure. I love 'happy juice' and a good warm blanket.
We set a timer to see how long everything would last...from rolling down the hall to the OR, the procedure, and back to my little cubby hole. Want to guess? 27 MINUTES. Amazing! The procedure was nothing at all. I talked to the dr the entire time. I could 'see' and could tell when she took the cataract off and put the lens in. If you want the details I can give them to you.
Mark made sure I had all the essentials. I hadn't eaten since midnight the night before and we didn't get back home until after 4pm. I was starving! I was a little squeezy and a whole lot thirsty.
For 28 days I have to keep all these drops straight. The rough part is that I am having the left eye done on the 27 and I will have two charts to deal with.
And I have to sleep in this very stylish plastic pirate patch so I won't scratch my eye during the night. Another downside...can't wash my hair for a week! No water is to be anywhere near my eye at any time until the doctor gives me the okay. On that day I plan to be in the shower for two hours!
Things I have already noticed...
White is a new color
Bailey has freckles.
My helper, Lilly on Sunday mornings, has braces.
I can see the definition of leaves.
Buildings don't have shadows.
And so many other things!
It is AMAZING!
