Our Day Started Out Great

DISCLAIMER FOR AMANDA AND EMMY!

You may want to avoid looking at this blog.

There was a slight knock on our bedroom door.  Cassie said that I should probably come down and look at the dogs.  Seems they were arguing over some cheese scraps from the night's dinner before.  You know crumbs on the table outside.  Cassie tried throwing water on them  And then she got one of Mark's big hiking sticks and lifted one of them clear up in the air,  It was all such a blur she couldn't remember which one it was.  It was a Sunday morning right before church.  Meaning an emergency vet visit.  I cleaned them up and thought everything was okay.  I irrigated the wounds. And separated everyone and headed for church.  When we got back Imogene was limping and Gladys was oozing.

Oozing is good in this case.

Monday morning one side of Gladys's face was swelling.  Imogene was still limping and I found a big gash (sorry no pic).  I continued to doctor them.

Tues morning it was time to visit the vet.  Glady's face was getting bigger and I was afraid that she had been bitten clear through her mouth.  Imogene wasn't herself at all  Both girls were really laid back and that is not like them.  No barking when the kids arrived in the morning.  Imogene ended up having surgery, Geez Louise!  And now we have the cone of shame for two weeks.  I am already counting down the days like it is the end of the school year.  Meds morning and night and we have to take them both out to go to the bathroom on a leash.

When you have the cone you get special treatment.  You get to sleep on an actual quilt.

Bandage changes every couple of days.  Nine stitches that I can count on the outside. The vet says she looks great.  She feels so good that she had been caught jumping over the gate between the family room and kitchen.

'
I got a new blue bandage today...more breathable and so pretty.  It matches her one eye!

Gladys is almost all healed up.  She has two meds and must have a hot compress on her cheek for 5 minutes five times a day.

Thank Day Heights Veterinary Clinic and especially Dr. Kirwin...he's the best.  The dogs all love him and so do we.
