I Want To Tell You How Proud I Am Of This Kid
Connor and I go way back. We go to church together. He gardens with us in the summers and eats cucumbers by the dozens. He is full of vim and vigor. Has the most precious heart. Somedays will try your patience, but then who doesn't. And he is incredible!
I get to be his tutor at Whiz Kids at Eastside on Tuesday night each week. He works hard for me because he knows that is what the expectation is. We want him to become a successful reader.
This is a picture that his mom sent me after the first night. He is reading his book in the car on the way home and was so proud of himself. It made me cry!
We use every second of our time learning everything we can about letters...what they look like, how they sound, how to write them correctly, how to put the letters together to make words, and how to read them. Look at that proud face!
Sometimes to switch it up we work on numbers.
Lok at all those great letters in his name.
We got some great news from his teacher at school last week! Because of Connor's AIMsweb score and his performance in the classroom...he has graduated from reading intervention outside of the classroom. We are all extremely excited and proud about this but he is a little sad. He loves his teacher and the special time he has with her. He cried when he found out that he was doing so well.
This week he was able to cash in his WhizKid Bucks.
He works so hard not only on reading but staying in his seat and focusing on what we are doing, being kind and helpful, using good table manners, volunteering to say the prayer which comes out sometimes as The Pledge Of Allegiance, and answering questions during our 'Jesus time' with Bev, and making this Wammy proud. I can always count on a Connor hug and a huge smile.
Good job buddy! We are proud of you!
