Stone Soup and Ten Frames

Today was a great day to make soup.  Cold, wet, and dreary.

First the stone.  The faces set the stage for the day for sure.

Just like in the book, everyone brought something to the pot.

Gabe cutting some meat.

I think Jase watches cooking shows...just look at that cutting technique.

Levi likes really small pieces.

Everyone learns to use an old-school can opener.

And how to be careful dumping into the crock pot without splashing everywhere.

Gabe's turn.

Jase uses every muscle that he has.

Finally, it is time to stir and wait...the hardest part.

To be totally honest, it was a total flop but everyone did finally take their no thank you bite.  The crackers and butter were a hit!

Gabe has mastered cutting!

Then we moved on to ten frames.  We are learning to count and recognize numbers 1-50.

They each took turns with different numbers.

They spent a really long time and seemed to enjoy the activity.
