My Happy Place...The Happy Church

A group of us from Eastside made a trip to The Happy Church in Jackson, KY.

Our first order of business was to stop by a Christmas angel's house in Florence and pick up a pick-up truck and two or three carloads of food.

This man has the kindest heart.  He does tons for others and is always smiling.

Here's the crew for this trip.  And we wore blessed to take lots of bikes for Happy Church to use however they thought would be good.

Secret bike storage.

Many hands make light work when unloading all that food.

Teamwork filling the Christmas food boxes.

We made new friends from another church that came to help.

All ages help out...which is outstanding.

Our group provided lunch for about 25-30 people.  It was all good!

Always love seeing those faces.

Our guide for the day was an amazing lady.  And could you ever tell that she was from KY.  I could have listened to her all day long.  We have a twang in common.  But mine is from WV and her's was from KY.  She had amazing stories to tell about her family and where they were when the flood hit and how they were surviving.

Jackson and Clayhole, Ky were the two places where we delivered food boxes.  I was blown away by the difference in the conditions.  It didn't look like anything had been done in Clayhole.

I got to deliver a box to her sweet momma.

I met this cutie-patootie.  This family also had an amazing story.  The young mother that lived her had children of her own but has taken in two small children with special needs because they lost their parents due to the flood.  An amazing young woman.  God bless her sweet, caring heart.

I might have made sure that he got a really big bag of Christmas cookies.

Look closely at the center of the shot.  There is a mashed-up car that I am guessing might just have to stay there because to me there doesn't seem any way to get it out.

Everywhere you looked this is just about what you saw.  It would take your breath away and break your heart at the same time.  Lots of things run through your head.  Like how can we help more?

She knows them all by name because she was born and raised here. Somehow she figured out how to go to nursing school and has been able to come back to the community and help.  That's what it is all about.

Here is a video that The Happy Church put together.  It is awesome!

You might have noticed that Anna was nowhere to be seen that Sat.  She had been at The Christmas Party the night before.  She had a very important job...making sure all the little characters in the Christmas Play had their costumes on and were in the right places at the right times.  So I am sure she was worn out.  Plus she and Cassie were going to see Dennis that day.  Sure did miss loving on her!
