We Got To Get Outside Today

We first worked on some school work...matching beginning sounds to the right letter of the alphabet.

I know it is not a maple leaf but it was the largest leaf that we found.

But Ms. Jen has two beautiful maple trees in her yard we just missed the color by about two weeks.

We came back and read on of my old favorites, Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf written by Lois Ehlert.  And of course, we did some leaf rubbings.

Then it was time for Wednesday Workbooks.

They enjoy working on the floor.

Gabe wanted to do all of his pages.  And Bailey wanted to help.  Jase was the overseeer.

Levi taking care of some business.

Bailey downing her lunch like a champ!

Jase and I worked on subtraction and some other kindergarten activities today while the other yahoos were napping.

Adilyn and Pappy were having a Spelling Bee while we waited for pick-up.  She is getting it.  Back in the day, this was called inventive spelling.  I wonder what the term teachers use today is?

I was just informed...thanks Ali

Invented spelling (or inventive spelling- tomato, tomahto) is phonetic spelling, based on what sounds the child hears (and knows) as they sound out the words.
