Finally Made It
Breakfast out! Delish but expensive.
If I remember this right it was an oat pancake with pineapple and coconut, HUGE and wonderful!
Ellis always knew that he could eat everything on his plate and then have half of mine which I wouldn't eat. Best of both worlds.
We strolled around the town of Estes for a bit. Found the fly fisherman's dream shop.
And I found a rock!
The Oakes family loves the dark chocolate-covered pretzels from Haleys. They were closed so I guess we will just have to come back another day.!
The nightmare at the grocery store. We waited in line for nearly an hour to checkout. Never again!
But when you head for the mountains all the things that concerned you at the bottom seem to just melt away.
We could see Longs Peak.
cold and windy
This was something else. We hiked in the Alpine Tundra on The Trail Ridge Road.
Us vs the tundra.
We found these tough little flowers on our hike.
Nothing else growing up here. We were way above the treeline.
How did the seeds for these little jewels get here and how in the world didn't they get blown down the mountain?
The winds were clocked here at 26 mph!
Once we reached the bottom we found where some of the CO wildfires had been.
I taught Alaire a new trick on her phone...foamy water.
A big moose sighting!
It was so windy here that when I opened my door to get in (which was a feat) the air sucked all the trash out of the trash bag that we had in the car. Things were flying everywhere and there was no chance of gathering it all up.
A family of elk. And then we heard...'Honda, you are in the road...oops!
We checked out a remote campground and found this lovely stream.
