Day Four...Running The Mags

Every time you get in the car to tour around there is always a different type of scenery,  We had not seen these kinds of rocks yet.

Even before we left, Ellis asked if we could find Magnolia Road so he could run on it.  He ran in this Oregan t-shirt.

I have learned that the Mags is a high-altitude ( above 8,000 feet) training course in Boulder, CO.  It is a classic Boulder run.  Used by teams all over the world.  It is the steepest maintained road in the country at a 15 grade.  It is a 12-mile road, some paved and some dirt.
I have downloaded the book Running with the Buffaloes so I can learn more about it.

Ellis was so excited about it.  HE just knew he was going to see someone 'he knew' running.  I asked him about it and he came back with...you know Wammy how you are with Hawk and the AT, well that's how I am with CC.  He loves the Oregan and Colorado Universities for that reason.  I really get it now!

The road is beautiful.

And very challenging.

His goal was to run five miles.

The after shot.

We drove to the University of CO so Ellis could shop in the Bookstore.  We had a little problem with construction and navigation and ended up driving to the Bookstore thru the pedestrian sidewalks.  That is a story and a half!!

One tired happy camper!

Mark has a high school buddy that lives in Boulder so he called and asked if we could get together for lunch.  They chose The Sink because it is a Colorado icon.  Really cool place.

Big Lip or Dog and Tank together again.

We did a little nostalgic tour on the way back.  This was the house that Alaire was brought to after she was born.  It wasn't these colors or in this bad of shape.  I sent the pic to Cassie and she came back saying there looks like a bunch of HOA rules are being broken here.

Then we stopped by their old church.

Back to home base, we must go but first dinner at yet another BBQ place.

We had a little wait so Alaire and I build cairns using the rocks in the landscaping while Ellis walked around the parking lot to see how many different license plates he could get pics of.

pilled pork and burnt end sliders

Home sweet camper for a campfire and s'mores.

And a little entertainment from the kids around us.
