A Really Fun But Really Hot Day

Spent one of the hottest days on record for me at the Zoo yesterday  (Eclipse Day) with a few other crazies.

Each of us had about 10 rocks to be dropped at different locations around the zoo.  Most fun thing ever.  We tried to match up the rocks we had painted to the actual animal.  Nerve racking to wait and watch.

The flowers were beautiful.

Nancy and her friend.

He was getting a drink from the waterfall.

Just taking it easy in the heat.

He's looking like I need air conditioning.

A squished up pelican.

Always wondered how they napped.

And to think all these animals and their lovely habitat once was a parking lot.

These guys always up on a show.

Everybody was trying to keep cool.

And the main attraction....Fiona...well cardboard Fiona.

If you look really close on the other side of the big hippo...you can see two little eyes.  That's Fiona.  And that is all that we saw.

Oh, Ms. Renee....

A sleeping sloth.

Actually two sleeping sloths...one with his teeth out.

I wanted to get more than their backsides.  So we ventured over to where they were going and don't you know that they turned around and went back to where we had come from.

We found the most awesome vegetable garden.

Talk about needing some dental work.  Strangest thing I have ever seen an animal do...try to climb out of its enclosure.  He got up to the metal fencing that went around the lip edge and then fell in.  The zookeepers said the animals might do some strange things because of the eclipse.

Momma, save me!

They were eating fruit in frozen ice cubes.

We spend lots of time in the air conditioned exhibits.

This big guy loved the hear.

Who needs special sunglasses.

The plant shadows were amazing.

While waiting to see Fiona after her lunch, Beth made us out own 'view-master'.

It was a really fun but really hot day.  Lunch was delicious...a chicken salad sandwich from the shop right around the corner from Fiona.  A full day.  No one got sunburned and we got to see some of the rocks we dropped posted on Facebook at Milford Rocks and some on Milford Ohio Rocks!

Ladies, thanks for including me.  I'm ready to go back anytime!

Happy Birthday, Shannon!
