Day Two..AT 14 State Challenge Adventure

Our campsite deep into the woods.

The critters....we also had a little mouse.

Home Sweet Home for a few days.

Funny, I never had time to relax in the hammock.

We put everyone to work.

No slackers here.

Ellis and Alaire "taught" us how to make an omelette in a bag.

Delicious!!

I'm guessing this boy needs his own hammock.

Doing the dishes.  The water was a little too hot for her delicate fingers.

On the way down the mountain we stopped at an overlook.  We might have hidden a rock there also.

Finally figured out how to work the times in the camera.

Drove on down the mountain to another overlook and the Ranger Station/Gift Shop/Visitors Center.  We love a good Visitors Center.

Another great rock drop-off spot.

Little did we know what a great spot it was.  Within 15 minutes...we weren't even off the mountain yet and it had been found.  Love it!

Not a problem...we had about a two hour drive to get to Springer Mountain.

Look at that dry, dry, road...that went on for over 25 miles.

We finally reached the trail.  To the left of Ellis and Alaire is a trail that leads to the plaque on Springer Mountain.  To the right of then is the NorthBound NOBO trailhead of the Appalachian Trail.  Mark another one off the Bucket List.

And we are off!

AND WE MADE IT!

It is official...there is a white blaze.

Then Alaire found what she thought was a geocache.

No, it was the actual register from the AT Conservancy.  We all signed it of course.

I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of our page.

These are my two favorite pictures from the day.

LOVE THIS!

And we are headed back.

A little something to get us home for dinner.

There might be a rock at the beginning of the NOBO trail.
'Not all who wander are lost'.

We stopped to get some direction so we also made a little pit stop.  Somewhere in GA this is what you find in the women's bathroom of a little gas station on the side of the road.

It was getting late and we quickly realized that we were too tired to cook but starving.  Mark found us a little burger place.  Delicious!  And another rock was place in the bathroom.  Not three minutes later the dad from the table beside us got up and went to the bathroom and came back to the table with a rock.  They had three kids that were so excited.  And you should have seen the faces at our table.

Too pooped to even listen to our book.  Bears or no bears we all slept like rocks.

Speaking of rocks...another report of a found rock we hid.
