Packing It In
We were invited to Cassie's in-law's retirement from ministry celebration in Wabash, IN. Doug and Karen have three sons and they are all in the ministry all over the US. One on the east coast, one on the wet coast and one in the bread basket.
And to go along with the three boys, there are lots of grandkids!
They are a wild and crazy bunch!
Grandpa came from Oklahoma for the celebration...blood relatives.
The entire bunch.
I wanted the kids to be 'children of the corn' but all mom's vetoed the idea.
The Trevor Oakes family. They are in ministry in IN.
The Jeff Oakes family...also in ministry in Boston.
The TD Oakes crew fro CA. And they are also in the ministry.
Oma and Opa with all their grandkids.
Lined up in birth order.
Four generations of Oakes men.
Three generations of Oakes women.
Oma with the girls.
They will soon be enjoying retirement on the open road in this little baby.
But for now, this is where they call home, the church parsonage.
Treaty, Wabash IN
Oh my goodness, the ladies of the church outdid themselves. We could have invited the entire town for dinner. And I might have tried a bite of every one of the pies on the table.
The church presented Doug and Karen with the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen!
There is a YouTube video being processed as we speak so if you want to come back later and check out everything and listen to all of the special music from the weekend, please come back later! But I will have to warn you ...it is lengthy. I made the pic sit for a long time so they could take in all the faces and all the love that was shared.
