Kitchen...Phase Two

We really hadn't planned on this being Phase Two.  Phase 2 was countertops and cabinets.  Oh well, gotta be flexible because things happen.

We had noticed some time ago a little bulge in the ceiling above the sink.  Just kept putting it off.  Then came the leak when we took a shower.  The leak got bigger and so did the area where it came from.  A few week ago it go so bad that we had to stop taking showers in our shower because the last time we had to put a bucket under it to catch all the water.

We had the guy that redid the bathrooms come and take a look.  He found nothing.  We had another plumber take a look...yep there is a leak.  So finally Mark got hold of Skeets, our neighbor, Mr Bill's guy.  He brought his guys in and they figured it out.

Two copper pipes need to be replaced and then there is the issue with the toilet slowly leaking. Gross!  So demo has begun!

Tarps and plastic everywhere.  Picked a great day because it was a holiday and the house was empty.  No little bodies in Wammyville.

Nicest demo guy!  AKA as the best carpenter around! He tried so hard to tape everything off and have the plastic sheets contain the dust.  He measured and remeasured.  He was extra careful with the molding.

He was able to save the entire piece in one whole piece.

I never did like that little scallopy thing that connected the cabinets.  So he went after it with the crowbar.

This is one part of the problem.  Seepage to other parts of the ceiling.  Should be an easy fix...remove it and replace it with good white, clean drywall.

And here we go with the main demo.

Looking at everything  at every angle with his trained eye to find out just how many issues we have.

And now enters worker number two...the plumber.  Not looking too good folks.  at least three areas that have issues.

All demo complete.  Problem located.  Plan of attack made. Now waiting on the plumber to return on Thursday to do his thing.  Then the carpenter returns to cover up the hole.  And lastly the painter shows up.  I am praying he can match my barn red  paint.  Last painted when we moved in ten years ago.  Might be a challenge to match the paint.
