An Egg-Cellant Adventure

So Leah (the one in the green) is another chickie ma.  She has a broody chicken and was in need of some eggs for her girl to hatch.  I began a little networking on FB with my chicken people and she was able to find some fertilized eggs.  Off to Goshen we went today...Justin and Matt (now known as the Sons of Thunder) Leah and Jasper (the dog), Michelle and me....in their big old conversion van.

When we get to Margie's house and while Leah knock on the front door , the rest of us hear calls from the barn.  We hear a turkey, a rooster, chickens.....and you know I want to go in there.

Of there are animals...everywhere.  You name it and Margie probably has it.  Some have been dropped off.  Some have been rescued.  Oh my goodness...farm animal heaven for me!  A beautiful rooster but you don't want to mess with him...check out those spurs.

 Look at this sweet one.

 

Absolutely stunning boy!

Oh no...this is not going to end well.  Look at that sweet thing!  I grabbed her as fast as I could.  But I let Justin take a turn.

And there were more.  All shapes and all sizes.  I am in heaven.  Someone better pinch me.

Horse...this was a rescue.  A redhead!  She is so sweet.

This little ones likes to stand on her momma's back.

A beautiful hen.  Most different bird I have ever seen.

These ducks cracked me up.  Just look at those dos.

A duck comb over.  Wonder if his name is Donald?

I feel so bad for this sweet chicken.   I can't remember if it is molting or if it is where the roosters are picking on her.  I was told he is molting.

 

There was even a turtle box...full of box turtles.

They made me do it!

 

I just text them for an update...

 

'Well we moved her too early before dark and now she is not happy.  So we let her go back into the coop and we put the eggs under her.  Then about an hour ago.  She seemed a little confuses but was very peaceful.  We'll see how she is in the morning!'

 

Keeping my fingers crossed.
