CNC: Geology Trail

The boys (Michael, Wyatt, and Luke)aer in the next year.nd I have developed a plan to hike all the tails at the Cincinati Nature Center.  There are ten trails...easy to diffucult.  Two down!

According to the brochure...1.25 miles; moderate
This loop trail has many geological features.  Fossil-rich, Ordovician-age, limestone, shale and several waterfalls are found along Avery's Run.  Fox Rock, at the end of a long glacial till ridge, is a conglomerate rocky outcropping with a veiwing deck, a shelter, and a spectacular vista of the stream valley below.  With several hill climbs, steps and stream crossings, this trail is rated moderate but well worth the hike.

The boys are always in charge of the map.

We did some sitting to take in our surroundings.

Walking and talking is what we are best at.

Posing for pictures really isn't one of their favorite things to do, but they do it because they love me.
And I have the keys!

And there is always lots of trial running.

On this trail you get to cross the creek several times.  We plan to come back on a really hot day so we can play in the water and not worry about getting wet.

If you look ever so closely, you might see two boys trying to hide so they can water the bushes without anyone seeing them.  I was on guard duty way down the creek in the center of the trail.

These two shots were taken while I was waiting for the explorers to return.  They are the came spot only different points of focus.

The reflection was so clear.  It almost looks like you are looking thru the leaves on the trees.

Looks like someone has hunger pains...so off to Subway for some nourishment!

We had fun but we sure missed our hiking buddy, Luke.
