DIY Weekend At Cassie's

We got up bright and early on Saturday morning to load up the ping pong table I got for Trevor's youth from FreeCycle.org...only to open the garage door to find it raining.  Plan B..take it another day.  Plan C...go to Ellis and Alaire's soccer games...games cancelled as we are driving and more than half way there.  Plan D...a few little DIY projects around the house.  And a $1  movie with two big containers of popcorn thrown in there somewhere for fun.

Now, you won't see this everyday...instruction reading by a male person in the family.

Maddie really was glad to see us...she escapes when we are around!  A Lot!

Alaire working on her alphabet.

I think I know something Cassie and Trevor are getting for Christmas...a real ladder.  Not a step stool, that someone has to balance you up on so you can reach the electric in the ceiling, posing like a ladder.

Not getting enough attention so she goes and very quietly grabs Michael's prized 'Reppie'.  Not a good choice on her part.

And it actually works...no smoke, no sparks...just a nice cool, refreshing movement of the air.

Ceiling fan #2 get a little work done down on the ground.

She is such a pro!

We were on such a roll, why not replace the light in the kitchen.  Note to self...do it when it is daylight outside and after dinner.

Finished product from Cassie's cell phone.  I forgot to take pics of all our finished projects.

Well, when you go to Lowe's on the second and fourth Saturdays you can make something.  Ellis and Alaire opted out of shopping for light fixtures and other boring things.  Instead they made 'SkiBall' toys with the help of Trevor.

Ellis testing out his finished project.

While 3/4 of the Oakes are making toys, we are gathering ideas and materials for our next project...an entertainment center/bookshelf...out of 2X8's and galvanized pipes and pipe fittings.
