Central Ohio Home and Garden Show

Thanks to a very wonderful blogging friend, Lona of The Hocking Hills Gardener, Mark and I got to spend some very quality time in the van and walking around The Ohio Expo Center in Columbus at the Central Ohio Home and Garden Show.  It was a little funny because our area of OH was having the same thing in downtown Cincinnati.  You can't pass up free tickets!  Thank you Lona, we had a great time and say some really nice areas and came home with lots of new ideas to try to incorporate in our yard.

Our humming birds will not only be feasting on the sugar water in the feeders but we got seeds....Cardinal Climber Vine, Scarlet O'Hare Morning Glory, Wild american Columbine, Cardinal Flower, and Purple Cloud Malva.  I love a pretty sunflower...so we will have some Giant Teddy Bears, some Velvet Queen, and I hope lots of Moulin Rouge, along with some Mammoth Russian Sunflowers.  And we didn't leave out the butterflies...some good old Milkweed for them.

We took a little sit down break and listened to a speaker talk from The American Community Garden Association talk about Community Gardens.  We have two that I know of right near us...so maybe we should check them out this spring.  I also got a radish plant that i have given to Michael and he is going to grow the radishes for the rabbit.  He will plant it right near her hutch in the raised bed.

There were eleven areas that were vying for the 'People's Choice" Award.  They were all beautiful...much to nice for our backyard.  the smell of all the spring flowers was breath taking.  And the ideas were unique.  I couldn't decide which area I like d the most.  They were all beautiful.  I will be interested to see who the people chose.

One of my favorites, reminds me of driving in the mountains in WV and seeing the mountain laurel growing wild.

Lots of interesting things tucked back in for interest.  This glass was one of my favorites.

Now, how can I get Mark to drill a hole thru a big rock like this so we can have another fountain?

I think I know what I want to do when I grow up...oh, I mean retire....be a landscape architect.

I found the perfect bunk for Ellis and Alaire...now to save the money and talk Mark into it.  I've given up all hope of ever having a goat pen.

I got a kick out of this!  Sometime when I am out in the yard in the middle of something and I don't want to take the time to run into the house...this might not be such a bad idea!  I wonder what the neighbors would say?  I'd make sure to stick in between some of the ornamental grasses so you couldn't see anything....

We were excited to see that Lowe's was well represented.  And the guys even wore their red vests.

I could have sworn that I took more pics but there was just so much to look at and touch I needed about three more sets of arms!  

I am so bummed....next week one of my favorites, Candice Olson will be there next weekend.  We have the Pine Wood Derby.  I guess while I am sitting in the gym watching cars race by on the track, I can dream about what questions I would ask her and how great we would look in a picture together.
