You Are Never Too Old To Learn

I am old but I am still learning...thanks to Emmy and her obsession with Pinterest.  Here are two mind blowing facts...at least they were to me.  I  know some of you that know me pretty well are rolling your eyes and laughing right about now.  Oh well, I can live with that.
Did you know that after you use a green onion you can put the white bulb part in water and they will continue to grow until the next time you need some.  I thought sure Emmy!  So I gave it a try.  Monday night last week we had our big family Thanksgiving dinner.  We needed some green onions.   So off to Kroger we go.  We used the onions almost down to the bulb.  I put them in water a jar in the kitchen window and the next thing I know they have grown about four inches.  I wonder how long they will continue to grow?  Inquiring minds?

Last night I was making some cooked cabbage from the CSA box.  Did you know that if you put a wooden spoon over your saucepan it magically keeps the pan from boiling over?  This works like a charm. I am notorious for not keeping a close eye on what is cooking on the stove and I have boil overs all the time.
