If you drove by our house and looked at the black-eyed Susan's you might  wonder why we haven't cut them back yet...the gold finches love the seeds.  I haven't put out any thistle seeds so this is the next best thing.  Not the greatest pic but you get the idea.

We found a jar fly in Ms Renee's driveway today.  It was on his last leg so I felt bad and let him go.  I remember as a kid catching these buggers and tying a string on their back leg.  They would fly in circles forever.  I was easily entertained.
