Beach Day Four

The morning started with a rumbling in the sky. I wasn't close to my camera but Cassie grabbed it and ran outside and this is what she got...condensation and all....

Looking for sand fiddlers

They hit the jackpot....really small ones and bigger ones.

I think she might just reach her goal of reading a complete book on vacation.

Here is a pic of the biggest one.  I remember when they were three times that big.

Does anyone know what these are called?  We call them rainbow shells.

She is such a goober!!!!!

That is the biggest and best smile I have seen from her all week.

We took the kids down to the sand dollar looking spot and there is wat we call...the hot pools...when Michael was a really little he loved being pulled by Bryce in them.  I think Ellis and Alaire like the calmer water in the 'bay'.

Emmy and Ellis found some jellyfish.

The Island on which we are staying is a turtle sanctuary.  We say signs as we crossed the bridge over the Intercostal Waterway.  Every Wed they have a meeting.  So all the little ones and I went to the meeting...you know that teachable moment thing.  Michael called it 'a once in a lifetime opportunity.'

they advertized that there would be limited seating so we left early...good thing we did.  There were so many that the kids were asked to come up front to sit.

Lots of visuals and hands on things for the kids.

a huge wooden floor puzzle

Michael was just a little taller that an actual shell.

Michael read everything that was there.  And jsut for you Uncle Terry...we picked up all the literature!

All the kids got a Turtle Talk Certificate and a very informational coloring book which they loved.  And since the are non-profit...we all got t-shirts!

After Turtle Talk we hurried home so we could celebrate Trevor's birthday with awesome brownies and ice cream.  We had no candles so we improvised wit the grill lighter.

Alaire getting every drop!
