Green B.E.A.N. Ohio
While we were working in the yard yesterday a mysterious white van pulled into the driveway. Out jumped a little man carrying a little plastic green bin. Mark thanked him (like he knew what was going on) and then yelled for me to come take a look. I thought it had to be flowers that he had ordered from a nursery...which we said we weren't going to do this year. I was surprised and thrilled to see veggies and stuff. n the side of the box it says Green B.E.A.N. Ohio. Oh boy, another CSA! Every other week we will be receiving our little green plastic box filled with good healthy food from local farmers...and we choose what goes in it! (Unlike our Cedarmore Farm CSA where each week it is a surprise.)
Emmy finds all kinds of cool stuff on the Internet and we reap the benefits. This is one example. We now have Focaccia and Kalamata Parmesan bread, five honey clover stix, pineapple, carrots, apples, green and yellow beans, oranges, grapefruit, yellow squash, fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes. lettuce and fresh basil. A green box will be delivered to our door every other week. We get to choose what goes in it. And our purchase will benefit our local farmers. So it will be like Christmas around here when our little green box is delivered. Between two CSA's, our freezer stocked with beef and our neighbor Ralph, we should be eating rather healthy this summer.
