Pinewood Derby...Phase 1...Design
It is that time of year when we begin the shake in our boots. When we as a family have to come up with a car to race in the Derby. We haven't had very much success with our cars. We almost landed in divorce court one year when Bryce was a scout. It wasn't pretty...not by a long shot. So this year we are sorta ahead of the game. We got our kit from our Den Leader. And a little secret she shared...there is a place close to the house where if your look pitiful enough they will cut it for you...free of charge.
Michael has had his sketch in his mind for awhile now. We worked on it the other day for a long time. I always give my suggestions but in the end he is the designer.
After a few...let's just walk away from the table for a minute or two...we were able to get it drawn on. The sides I get, but the vision he has for the top of the car is way beyond what I can see in my mind's eye...or anywhere else for that matter.
Where's our Peep when you need him? Home in WV, probably sitting in his chair with Stitch 'watching' TV. So next best thing are the men and women that work at Hardwood Lumber and More. When we walked in I was the must pitiful mother with no clue you have ever seen...please take pity on me sir. He did and he did such a nice job...in a few minutes Michael was grinning from ear to ear.
I got some expert instructions what to do now...sand and then sand some more. Michael was more than thrilled and all the way home he was making plans as to what he was going to do next. Mark just called and he is on his way home and after dinner the sanding begins. Wish us luck!
