Blue and Blackberries

We were pickin' and a grinnin' early this morning. I got up early enough to make monkey bread for all the monkeys in the house for early morning sugar rush fuel to give them a pick me up because the two little monkeys were up until really late...midnight. Pickin' started promptly at 8AM. We arrived around 8:25ish. We heard thunder and saw raindrops in the birdbath so it has hard to decide what to do. But off we went into the fields under the eyes of the watchful grandma Rouster.

This is one berry pickin' boy. I think he would rather pick blueberries than blackberries. I will agree that it is easier picking blueberries. He popped right out of bed this morning and has never looked back.
I think we should always pick blackberries in a well manicured field with no worries of poison ivy or snakes.
Lesson One...and the only lesson...only pick the ones that are all black...and eat a few to make sure that they are good.
Mark decided that he wanted some more blueberries so Michael took him over to the blueberry 'trees' to school him in pickin'. A few of the ladies gave him some tips too...pull the top branches down and pick the berries there...no one wants to get wet or they are not tall enough...and there are plenty to pick there.
Double handed pickin'...that's how we pick 'em...thanks to Henriella Perry and her berry pickin' skills.
Mark and Michael came back with a bucket half full. Emmy, Skyler and I took over and filled the bucket in no time.
I'm just wondering...did these go into our bucket or in his mouth?
Look at that ...a bunch a of happy campers...with lots of berries too.
This is The Berry House. See the two ladies by the opening...they are there to guard the line to make sure that we didn't have to wait long in line to check out. Clean up in aisle two.
How about a nice cold apple cider pop? Two thumbs up from the pickers.
Can you see the size of these blackberries? Huge and really sweet. We did GOOD!

Quote of the day...from Emmy..."I think they have it all wrong here. They should weight all of us when we come in and then before we leave." How many do you think we ate? They give you permission before we started to pick."

I'd much rather have blackberries, too. I've only picked them in the wild, and fought rattlers for them. I don't think we have any berry pickin' farms around here. You're lucky.
