Annual Holiday Kick-Off Parade

We had to rush dinner just a bit to make it to our 4th Holiday Kick-Off Parade. Cassie had not had her Penn Station fix yet on this trip...so dinner at PS was in order. Thank heavens it isn't far from our favorite parade viewing spot.

Everyone was trying to get the best spot possible while watching the police officers on motorcycles race up and down the middle of the street.

This is one of Michael's favorite parades. We always find a spot right in front of his preschool. To make the time go by faster we always try to remember as many things as we can about his time in Ms Westerman's class.

Mark had to make a little pit stop at Kroger right after leaving PS. He said he was going after a treat to sooth the troops. M&M's aren't exactly what I would choose to calm children. What was he thinking?

Alaire and Ellis had no clue as to what was going to happen. But there were in 110% when they heard there was going to be candy involved.

Our little parade always beings with the Town Crier riding in his red, white and blue little car, he is ringing the bell and telling us all that it is time for the parade to begin. This year's Parade Marshall was our astronaut to be...Stephen Heck. He is an 8th grade Earth Science teacher. He is a former department chairman and professor of Aerospace Studies at the University of Cincinnati. A US Air Force veteran, he has over 2,700 flight hours in jet aircraft and holds two world records set in KC-10 aircraft. Pretty impressive! Two high school bands performed. Tons of bright and very loud firetrucks. Lots of candy. Oranges from Mejier. Big shiny Oil Company trucks all decked out with Christmas lights. Contractors with their big trucks. A van full of seniors from Pinebrook Senior Living. Ponies pulling carts filled with children. Dogs. Boys scouts. Girl Scouts. Dance Teams. Preschools. Santa and Mrs Claus. And my all time favorite...an new orange snowplow blowing out bubbles when the salt usually comes out. You gotta love small town America. I love it! Then we went home and fixed some hot chocolate.
