Tonight Was French Night

(Disclaimer...Michael is the official photographer during our night of eating food from other countries)

The other day Michael asked if we could have a French Night. Always before that just meant that we had candles and pretended were were in Paris. Oh, how his little mind works. Now that he has gotten older, watched some cooking shows and has a globe in his room...he has decided that each night of the week dinner should be food from different countries. Oh great...now I have to do some research and cook "authentic" cultural food. As most of your know this is going to be really out of the box for me! So tonight we had French Night. With not much time to prepare, Michael and I headed for Kroger. French loaf verses a baguette? He chose the French loaf because 'we could eat it faster.' I made the mistake of cutting the loaf well before dinner was ready. We all shared half a loaf at dinner. I can not think of a night when Michael has ever eaten a salad. (He will eat lettuce, tomato and onion on a hamburger) Tonight he a had a spinach salad with French dressing topped with croutons...they are French aren't they? We all watched him out of the corners of our eyes. Knowing that if we made these least little mention of it, the salad eating would be over forever. French style green beans worked for me. He thought it was cool ...meaning the picture with 'the smoke' in it. Some spicy grilled chicken topped with a slice of Provolone cheese with a side of Au Gratin potatoes rounded out the dinner plate. You may have to stretch your 'French thinking' here with the dessert. We were looking for a French silk pie. Kroger was out so we got the next best pie...chocolate cream.

We had a lot of fun with it. During dinner we talked about everything we could having to do anything with French...France...Bon Appetite!
