S'Mores

What can I say, I love a good campfire. And I didn't think we were going to be able to have one this time. It has been so muggy hot. And then just before dinner it started to rain.
Speaking of dinner...everyone has a job or two when it comes to cooking around here. This week Alaire and I are on compost duty. Whenever she sees me with the bin, I hear, 'I help' and off we go to the back yard with all the compost we can carry.
Dinner was beyond out of control tonight. Ellis was beside himself in more ways than one. Alaire thought it was funny to eat with her hands. Emmy was in charge of one end of the table while Cassie and I were at the other end. One adult to one child. Thank heavens we didn't have any more.
Ellis discovered Hawaiian rolls. And with butter no less. (Ella got to have some too, as soon as we were out of site...and entire bag. She'll be sorry tonight.)
When we told Ellis we were going to have a campfire...he straightened right up and finished his dinner in a matter of seconds.
Believe it or not, I was able to make a burning campfire on about three inches of rain water that had gathered in the bottom of the fire pit. I tell you I could be on Survivor Cincinnati.
See, this is how you squish it. But Ellis quickly learned two things, you have to have a cooked marshmallow for it to squish and there is chocolate in these things.
I'm telling you right now...there is an art to making a s'more and Ellis has it down!

His face says just simply pure joy!
