One Man's Junk is My Treasure

I got a call from Betsy one day last week and she was so excited! She and Dewey work a lot with The SEM Food Pantry, a cause near and dear to my heart. Right next door is the Preschool. Beside the dumpster were two long window screens from the Food Pantry. Betsy just knew we could so something with them for our yards. We greed to share them. She took one not having any idea what to do with hers... I knew exactly what I was going to do with mine. With the help of Handyman Mark and Ms Renee's extra capable hands, we were able to construct a small pergola (actually, we did it twice because I just didn't like the looks of the first one...you couldn't see the screen.)

As you can see, I now am the very gracious and proud owner of a small vegetable garden (to be configured this fall, after the heat ends) that is made up of two screens. Imagine wood chips for the floor and a large orange trumpet vine growing up the sides, back and continuing over along the top, filled with hungry butterflies. And me watching over all the growing vegetables in those four raised beds, sipping some sweet tea in the shade. Are you seeing my vision?

Thanks you Ms Renee, Betsy and Dewey. Good job Mark! I love it!
