Blink and It's Over

Our weekend was rather relaxing compared to the other trips the McGilvary's have made. Yvonne, Kyle, Hannah and DJ made the 6+ hour trip to Cincinnati from Waterford. They were our next door neighbors...extended family...shared yards...gardening buddies...childcare providers....hot tub companions...you get the picture?Almost the minute they got out of the car and we had hugs all around, we loaded up in the van for a quick trip to meet Emmy and Nate to go Geocaching and creekin. We never figured out the cache (third or fourth time we have tried this one) but we were able to walk to the waterfall and gather rocks for a path in the yard. Doesn't look like Hannah and Sarah needed much time to catch up with each other. They were pretty funny. Hannah was right in the middle of the creek splashing with the boys while Sarah was trying to stay out of the 'gross water'. Since when did she become such a girlie girl? Seems some 'natives' had been to the creek before us. Come to find out Emmy was the native. I remember seeing these rock structures all over Maui. Some people claim they are actually something really cool. This one is just a stack of rocks. I wonder if they will be standing the next time we go creekin? We did actually find some fossils in a few of the rocks. We tried to bring those home. Michael came home with a few smaller rocks that are now on his dresser that look like they actually have small bones from maybe a small animal or bird. We continued our Geocaching tour into an old cemetery. I think with Emmy and Nate's help Michael was able to find the cache. Michael had just about had enough...he had been up late waiting for the company to arrive...making plans on what they were going to do, drawing pictures for them, making up games to play, complete with prizes....he has been a busy boy...resulting in a very grumpy boy.
Saturday we were up bright and early headed for the Farmer's Market and Flea Market. I got a call from Betsy..."her neighbor had some good junk at the curb did I want to come and check it out?" Of course I did. Not only were there some cool things in the 'garbage' but Betsy and Dewey shared with us from their shed and garden. Lots of fun there. When we passed the Farmers Market we decided it was getting late in the day and they might run out of corn so we stopped. Good thing we did. I think I did pretty well this trip to the Flea Market. A birdhouse to start the collection, some cobalt blue bottles for the garden for some color and some pop and last but not least a clear door knob.. And as always ' ingredients' for wind chimes. It was getting late, the troops were hot, tired and hungry so we headed for Sonic. You see that is something they don't have in WI. I think we made a good choice because the van was actually quite for awhile.

SHOTS of THE CHEESEHEADS...
DJ looking pretty cool.
Kyle cutting to make it fit.
Hannah helping with the wind chimes.
Ms Yvonne shucking corn...YUMMMMY

Sunday morning and pack up came oh too soon. But we managed to squeeze a little more time...we all took Sarah to work. We even opted to have lunch there so we could see her in action. Let me just tell you that she had her nose down working really hard. Sundays are soccer days around here. Lunch time is not a really great time...especially with a soccer field right down the road. And to top it off we headed to UDF for some ice cream. Another YUMMMM.

FYI...From our front door to their front door is 411 miles.
