Flea Market Finds

Saturday morning, Emmy, Michael and I loaded up in the family truckster and headed for Kellogg Avenue. We had heard that they throw a pretty mean flea market there on the weekends. I think this might just be my new favorite place to go, not only for bargains, but for some priceless entertainment also.
This was the first indication of what the day would hold for us. This guy was a talker. He talked/yelled at us as we moved on down the isle really quick...four tables down he is still trying to tell us what a wonderful catch he was. I thought Emmy was going to lose it.
I found lots of great bargains...this is just one of many. It is just a little beat up, rusty, tool box that I was able to get for just one single dollar. I can't wait until next summer when I can plant some flowers in it and put it somewhere unexpected in the yard. I just need to remember to drill some drainage hole in it.
I walked past this, not knowing what it was. We were looking at some other things that the man had on display...he had a smaller one of these just leaning against the table. I had to ask him what they were. Come to find out that they are 'very collectible'. Something about a stove and this was the door. I still really have no clue. I just know that Griswold is a great iron skillet and they are worth some money. So I continued on my merry way.
The man notice that Michael was eyeing this big box of Lincoln Logs. Don't you just know that he said they we could have the entire box..FREE! Well, I jumped on that one. And I went back and bought the stove door thingie.
I still have some spoons left from the wind chime that Michael and I made a few weeks ago and I have been looking for something to add them to. I found this circle in the bottom of a box...by this time I just have to let you know that we were literally melting in our shoes. Emmy and Michael were way past ready to go home. Not me...I'm digging thru all the boxes like there is no tomorrow!
My Dad says that this is a pipe vice. What do you use one of those for? I have no idea but I knew that it would be a show stopper in the flower bed by the back door. I think it adds a lot, don't you?
On our way out I see the tip end of a pirate ship. I tell Emmy that she and Michael can go on to the car and I will catch up with them...not wanting Michael to see what I had found. No such luck...he can spot a pirate ship 300 feet away. I was talking to the nice man...kinda buttering him up for the kill...when he tells me that this pirate ship that I have my eye on is going to cost a lot of money. I ask him how much and he says $8. I wanted to kiss him right there on the spot. Emmy priced them last Christmas...almost $100. I said SOLD!
I talked them into stopping at just one more place...I was praying that it was air conditioned. An Antique Mall...filled with tons of great things...I found the windows that I have been looking for ...I am planning an outdoor room. I have been looking for a chandelier/candelabra just like Ms Renee has hanging in her tree. I even email the lady that used to live here to she if she could remember where she had gotten it. I checked all the places that she said she thought she had gotten it...no luck. As I was paying for my potato masher, no pictured because I can seem to remember where I put it...I saw this candelabra hanging out in the little cafe they had. Another SOLD! We had a great time and I think we will go back when the weather is a little cooler. I know that it was 104 on that blacktopped parking lot. Once I have everything made and in place I'll be sure to take pictures and you know they will be on the blog.
