Yet Another Walk
In between the rain drops and the cold wind I managed to be outside for a minute...actually the dog needed to go out. So with camera in hand, as always, I took a few more shots of the yard.
These are the most delicate little pink flowers. There are more shoots and flowers then there are little green plant they are coming out of. I had to go the the Garden Guru and find out the name...he says it is a Tiatella. How he remembers all these names is way beyond me.
We love old stuff mixed in with all the flowers and bushes and stuff. This old sled was a find from Sweet Pap. He is always on the look out for things for our yard...just because I am his favorite! This little bit of yarrow traveled many miles from our home in WI. This is one of those plants you love to hate. You love it because it multiplies really fast. And then you hate it because it just keep going. I think there might be some red and then some yellow. I'll be sure to get a picture of it when it blooms. I am hoping that it spreads along the fence behind the railroad ties.
The Great One has no idea what this one is. It is a bush...skimpy and not very tall. I will have to go get out the big book of plants tomorrow and look to see if I can find it.
These bed springs were from Big Bob. Big Bob was a friend and fishing buddy of my PopPaw's. Big Bob and Nelly lived up the street from us in Huntington. This box spring was leaning up against his old barn on Gallaher Street. I talked him into giving them to me one trip to Huntington. The clematis only had one bloom on it last summer. This year I think that it just might reach the roof of the barn.
Remember the post a few days ago when the fern was just popping up....here it is a few days later. I never saw any of the other fronds come up. Then today it is almost a small bush.
We added this trumpet vine last summer. We had one on the fence by the bay window, where else but in WI. The hummingbirds loved it. We are hoping that it will turn out just as well. It could be awhile. And I will probably have to use the binoculars to see it from the family room. I'll just be happy if one shows up.
I am so proud of this little twig of holly. In Huntington, in our first yard, we found a little twig the day we moved in. Now that little twig is taller than the house. So when we moved here I started another tree. This one seems to be growing out instead of up. And the bugs are about to kill it.
Yesterday when I was taking yard waste to the compost bin, I almost stepped on two sedum. I didn't plant them there. Mark says that he planted them last year. That could be a possibility....he does love his sedum.
Mark found these jewels tonight during the 'walk around'. They are pretty cool looking but I am not sure that they are too good for the yard. They are growing up under the plastic cover over the window well.
I am so thrilled that this is starting to look like it might make it. There are two clematis here. I am dreaming of the day that I can sit on the swing and not be able to see the corner of the house because the growth is so thick.
I saved the funniest tonight for the last picture. This is commonly called pigs squeak. Of course, Mark found it one day and brought it home. Kinda like puppy on the side of the road. I don't remember if it has any blooms. Guess we will just have to wait to see.
This tour is over for tonight. Maybe the next time I can show you everything all cleaned up, edged and mulched. If you have any plants that you want to share...just let me know and I will make room for them in our gardens. What about a plant exchange?
