First Signs of Spring

Another Round Robin Photo Challenge...I love these things. Except that I forgot and didn't follow the rules...I didn't leave my 'entry' in the correct form so I don't think I am on the linking list. I hope they still find me.
This Round Robin Photo Challenge come from the creative mind of Nan at Life is Like a Lunchbox. I love that title...wish I had thought of something more creative than what we have. I am so happy that it looks like Spring is almost here. But last night I got word that WI got 12 1/2 inches of snow and that it might be on the way here. NO!!!!!! We just had the great melt off and everything flooded. The river is finally on its way back down to within its normal banks. We really need spring, sun, robins singing, worms crawling on the driveway (that is the picture Emmy wanted me to post...worms on the driveway...couldn't do it...kinda makes my stomach turn)
Our family knows it is spring when Micheal needs a breathing treatment once a day for his allergies and asthma. Right now I think I could give him more than one a day but his teacher would probably hang him from the flagpole at school. They really send him over the edge! Poor little pirate....'Mom, do pirates have asthma and breathing treatments?" my response..."only the biggest, toughest, baddest, bestest ones do, and they do it without a peep." Works for me. I was out wading in the backyard the other day last week when this big shiny warm ball appeared in the sky...I think they call it the sun...and I noticed a snowdrop coming up thru the columbine. Almost like saying, I don't care what you throw at me, I'm coming up because that is what I am supposed to do in the spring. Now I am really excited to see so many 'Naked Ladies' coming up in our yard. My Dad has a million of them so I asked last time I was home if I could have just a few. Then Papaw found me a ton over at Joe's..so now they are coming up everywhere. I hope between the pirates digging, the squirrels burying and the dog just tearing it up...some of them survive. I will be sure to post a picture of the first one to bloom. I wish I could tell you the scientific name for them...can't...just Naked Ladies. Sorry :)
I'm a WV Hillbilly born and raised. I love driving in the mountains and seeing the wild rhododendrons...mountain laurel. I have always wanted a place in our yards that we could grow some. My Aunt Dory had a huge one that grew up the entire side of her house in Milton. I think they are the most beautiful flower on the planet. While on my yard trek, I found this wonderful big, healthy, bud. I have no idea what color it is. I do know that it came from Pap. First thing every morning, like a ritual, I look out the window to see if I can see any color. It is sorta like Christmas..shaking the package and trying to guess what is inside. Oh, the mysteries of our gardens. We have come to find hundreds of rocks in our yard. Literally, hundreds. When we unearth them, they become a wall for a flower bed somewhere in the yard. I was sitting on the sidewalk looking at ants with Michael and out of the corner of my eye I saw that this groundcover was growing like crazy. It started out a a piece that I had taken off one of the plants from Pap. I just threw it over in the bed of rocks....and ta da..beauty! Don't you just love when that happens?
