Blizzard Conditions
(Don't you think it is funny that you are listening to Michael W. Smith's First Snowfall?)
Eleven O'clock news does me in when they predict snow. I'm up all night looking out the window waiting for it to come. Last night was not a disappointment. (The snow started falling and didn't stop until this morning after Mark left for work.)
So I go to the couch in the family room about 2AM and turn on the TV, open the curtains and begin the watch. Somewhere around 4AM it started. And man did it pour! It wa so beautiful. I love the snow! I just stood at the door and watched and listened to complete silence except for the little pieces of ice that hit the glass. Nothing more calming in my book. Satisfied that I had seem the best I fell asleep. 6AM...I pop up and check out the door again. Even more snow! I put the coffee on because I can hear Mark upstairs getting ready to go to work. I ventured out the front door and one step into the yard with my pj's on and camera in hand...9 inches by the porch. According to our meteorologists, the correct way, the most scientific way to take a measurement of the snow is to measure in three places and then take the average. I'll do that later on today when the snow finally quits. They tell us that we can expect it to snow well into the night with a 2 hour window of no snow in a few hours. Ella hears me puttering around downstairs and decided that she needs to go out...right now... We open the garage door only to be hit in the face with blowing snow...almost a white out in my garage! So cool!
I would consider this snow almost like a WI snow except our temp is 21 above with no wind chill added in. But there is just a little bit of drifting. I don't yet know what it is like on the ground but I can tell you our windows look really amazing....
This Just In...The county is under a Level III snow alert. Mark heard this about half way to work. He and one other employee made it to work. But now I am a little concerned about him trying to get back home. Good thing he took a big lunch.
Level I Snow Alert - Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow.
Level II Snow Advisory - Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work.
Level III Snow Emergency - All Municipal, Township, County, and State roadways are closed to Non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. Those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to arrest.
Sarah is missing all the fun and excitement...she is snug as a bug in a rug in her bed.
