In The Beginning...
Before I even get started I have to explain our long absence from the blog. We...Michael, Sarah and I...have been sick with a nasty cold for about a week. We are all slowly getting better but still have some things in our noses and throats. Michael is even" growing pickles in his ears"...that's what Luke says...Michael has ended up with yet another double ear infection...third in about 6 months. Michael and I even missed two days of school and that never happens. But we are better and hoping for a full recovery by next weekend. Now back to the blog...In the beginning there were two little boys who just loved to do crafts. And there was one Wammy, who loves to entertain said boys on Thursdays. I had promised Michael that we would make the gingerbread houses on Thursday...not knowing that I would be dead with a cold. But, we Moms must persevere thru thick and thin, thru rain, snow, sleet or hail...so Thursday when the boys got off the bus they were ready to begin construction. Michael has been talking about how he was going to decorate his house, how many colors he was going to add, asking all sorts of questions. Luke just wanted to know when he was going to get to eat his house. We had to read the directions several times to understand just what we had to do. Michel was sitting intently listening to each word while Luke was trying to get his box open so he could eat some of the candy. We had a few scary moments when one of Luke's roof pieces slide off and we lost the peppermints to the middle of the house, never to be seen again and when Ella tried to take a bite out of the corner of Michael's house. But we finished!
Just by the descriptions alone...can you figure out which gingerbread house Luke made and which one Michel made? FYI...I was at Luke's tonight and his house is still intact...with a few pieces of candy missing. But he has assured me that he isn't going to eat any more because he wants Santa to see his gingerbread house. Michael just stands and looks at his and says "what a wonderful craft it is."
If you would like to know more about the construction of the gingerbread houses, check out our video section to the right...I think it is a keeper!
