Another Trip Home

Friday night we loaded up the family truckster and headed down the road to Huntington to Aunt Kate and Uncle Mark's house to help get ready for a shower for Julie, Hutch and Gracie...due to make her arrival into the world about two weeks after "Ladybug". The Napier's have a had tough week so they weren't quite ready for the shower so the Ellis girls were there to help out. We made chicken salad, cheese trays, a vegetable tray, a cheese ball and I think some dip too. After the cooking Kate, Emmy and I took turns finishing a cross stitch project that Julie had asked Sarah to do. Emmy stayed up until 2:30AM finishing the border. Kate was up bright and early to work on the wording. We would switch off while getting dressed, loading the car, getting everyone ready...Kate and I were bound and determined that we would have that silly thing finished sometime during the shower. Well, almost two hours late for the shower, the picture was finished.Julie figured out what we were doing and said that we were totally crazy. I was proud that we were able to get it finished, But Kate is going to take it and have it professionally mounted and framed...our attempt was a little off. Then when reading it over for the millionth time, we found a misspelled word. It's okay...it's an easy fix. There is a story about the quilt Julie is holding...I don't know how long ago, but it has been awhile...Jerri bought a truck at Julie's grandma's auction. Inside she found a quilt top. She isn't sure who pieced it but she thought Julie would love to have a quilt from her grandmother. Jerri called a few months ago to ask me if I thought I could quilt it for her. I said sure and then I got "quilters block". I was so afraid to start on the thing thinking that I would not be able to do what needed to be done. I should have more faith in myself. I did it in record time and it really looked great. Jerri made sure that it was the next to last gift she opened. Julie was thrilled with it. She held it up and smelled it and said that it even smelled like her grandmother. I was truly touched by that.

Sarah Beth Update:Please pray for the doctors and Sarah. She is experiencing some seizures due to the brain tumor. The doctors in DC, Huntington, and Lexington are consulting and are in the process of coming up with a treatment plan for Sarah. The family has some difficult decisions that need to be made pretty quickly.

so since your quilter's block is gone, are you ready for me to mail you that one i have quilter's block on?
The cross stich and the quilt are both beautiful. You are very talented with a needle. Answer to the question you left on my blog - I would be honoured if you would do that. Thanks
