Lines Down
Last night during dinner, we got a shock! I had just commented about how windy it was outside when Mark said that he say a spark, smoke and fire coming from the transformer on a pole in out left neighbors yard. When I looked out all I saw was Luke's "playground" smothered by a huge tree. Luke and Michael play in that all the time. I ran out to see where Luke was. Renee was running out to see if Michael was okay. Both boys were safe and sound in their own houses.Renee called 911 and they sent a firetruck. We had live wires across the back of the backyard. Firefighters all over the place. I am sure that their night had only begun. The firefighters stayed until Duke Energy showed up to assess the damage. I was able to assess our damage...our eagle weather vane is now a lovely yard ornament in the day lilies. John discovered that the tree was dead on the inside from carpenter ants. Michael and I watched the tree company cut the limbs using one of the sharpest little saws I have ever seen. Two different sections of fence will need to be repaired, maybe a section of the "playground". Our power was restored around midnight. All is well that ends well...and John gets a boat load of firewood.
Sarah's Job Search:While all the excitement was happening in the backyard, the neighbors and Sarah, Michael and I were sitting on the front porch. I am happy to announce that Sarah has a summer job...well, two nights a week. She will be babysitting for Skylar and his little sister, Linlee. We are all so happy.
