Ella Bella Ellis
I know, I know. I said that I would never have another dog. Well, I guess I should start eating my words. Mark and I have been talking about it all week. We have checked shelters in our area and Michael informed us that they didn't have any good dogs. Just so happens that one of the guys at Circuit City's wife is a Vet Tech for a shelter in Dayton. This morning while we were eating breakfast we (maybe it was just Mark) got a wild hair to drive up "just to look at" puppies. I guess you could say that the rest is history....Meet Ella. She weighs 8 pounds and is so small. She has a big bark that I am sure will keep up all up tonight! She needs to go to the vet next week to get her stitches removed and one more round of shots. She has a chip embedded between her shoulders, just in case she should wander off. She loves to play and she is already driving Emmy and Sarah nuts. Michael is in seventh heaven as you can see.Sarah met Ella when we picked her up after track practice. Emmy and the girls hid Ella in the back of the van... when Sarah came to switch seats with Emmy, there was Ella. Sarah got a huge grin on her face and said..."Are you kidding me?" She says that she is still in shock.Ella loves to get under you feet. I have already stepped on her feet and she had already tripped me. I ate some kitchen floor this afternoon. The bad part of that was that she ended up under me. Emmy and Sarah could only stand there and laugh. Michael was worried that Ella was hurt. Right now things are quiet...Michael is wanting to eat dinner, (he must be finally feeling better), Ella is sleeping in her kennel and Sarah is cleaning her room. We had better enjoy it...wish us luck tonight.
You might be wondering where we came up with the name Ella. I saw it in a magazine and thought it would be a great name for the newest-member-to-be this fall. Cassie wasn't too excited about the name. She said that it was too close to Ellis and they have friends with a daughter named Ellie. When Michael first laid eyes on the dog, he said, "Look Mom, there's Ella". So she was named. Bella comes from our neighbor, you remember Luke's Mom who helped take out the bushes along the top of the driveway.
FIRST NIGHT NEWS: Amazing, is all that I can say. When Michael went to bed at 8:30PM, Ella went to bed in her kennel. She barked for less that 5 minutes. I walked around the kitchen and everything. Once the house was quiet I got her back out and we had bonding time. (I think she likes me the best) When Mark came home around midnight we all went out to potty. Ella showed Mark that she knows how to sit when getting ready to go outside and then sitting when she comes back in. So I am very glad to report that everyone slept through the night.
