RAINOUT

We were up bright and early this morning. I started this morning at a little after nine. I had taken the loppers and gotten all the limbs off and carried to the street when Renee and Red, the dog, emerged from their garage. I have to tell you that my garden fashion statement was understated compared to Renee's. Here she struts...showered, hair and make-up done wearing nice Dansko clogs. She was worried that I was working too hard. Did she forget watching us work last summer? This is what we started with. I had already loped off the twigs of the two bushes in the middle. We decided that we should start with the two smaller stumps in the middle. I have learned that Renee has never done yard work, hates to be dirty and despises worms. She was cracking me up! She was in charge of shoveling around the stump. I would then come in and hack at the stump with the "terminator"...you know the thing that looks like a ax on one end and a pick on the other. Then she would shovel some more and I would put all 176 pounds behind it and pull. Here is a picture of her first root ever! She was so proud. Not long after this picture was taken it began to rain pretty hard and I got the call to come to the track to pick up Sarah. I will be back out tomorrow if the weather permits. Renee has to do some shopping with her daughter...but she will be back when she can. We took the tools back to the barn and Renee actually thanked me for letting her help...complete with a hug and everything. I think she was really proud of herself. I just hope her husband likes what we have done...even if we share the area between the driveways. Renee says that he will never notice. We shall see....

I wish I had a nickle for every time we used the "terminator" together. Too bad we didn't take some pictures of how we looked while we were working in our yeads together. EWE! Dirty, grime, but we had a lot of fun. I can't wait to see what comes up this year after all the furious planting we did right before you left. It's so cool that you're getting your new neighbor to garden. I can't wait to see all the stuff you do over the next few weeks before we come to visit in April.
