Alaire's Award Tour: Academia, Art...and Aquatics!
We usually don't close Wammyville unless of sickness or something really special. This was something special!
This is the principal of the homeschooling group and also the teacher of the class in preparation for these presentations.
For five years, she has coordinated the co-op along with a great team and done an excellent job.
So poised.
She raised and donated over $ 1,500 to Lafayette Urban Ministries.
This is the best! Alaire has a piece of her art hanging in this gallery.
While in the gallery, we were able to check out other artists. The woman who gave us our personal tour also had an exhibit. This is the painting that caught my eye. I can't imagine why.
Then I saw that she had written and illustrated a book using the characters in the painting. Had to have one for preschool. I told her about Sedgwick and being able to illustrate for Greg. Then we talked about the kids and the preschool. We are new besties!
We were in the car, pulling out of our parking place, and she came to the car with a book for each one of the yahoos. A donation to the happiness of children.
Then we checked out a few bakeries/coffee shops in Lafayette and West Lafayette.
Scones and Doilies is one of our favorites.
We walked out the door and right into the sidelines of one of the shortest races I have ever seen. So fun. Lots of entries! Seriously. There was even a leprechaun riding on a dinosaur.
We have a new vacation game. It is easy, but the strategies are challenging for me.
Alaire’s self-portrait was selected for the Greater Lafayette Art Museum’s “New Artists of 2026” art show. She won 2nd in the drawing category ($100 prize) and also won an award from an art paper company with a supply of art paper. That's her with her lacrosse game face on.
Later that night, there was also the swim banquet, where she was a recipient of the LPP award (Large Print People) for those who can’t see the set on the board and need a larger font on paper. Somehow, that is an award. 🤷🏼♀️
It was a great trip to IN...a lot of wind and even more cold. We missed seeing Ellis. It seems so weird. But summer is coming!
