The Night The Lights Went Out In Milford
I was up all night watching the lightning, rain, and wind. Our power went out about 2 a.m. I prayed that our oak tree would withstand the winds and not come through the house. I prayed that the water on the patio would find its way to the drain and successfully drain into the front yard. I prayed that The Happy Church wouldn't get flooded again. I did lots of talking to God.
Breakfast coffee by flashlight. Brought to you by a Starbucks gift card. Thank you, Pappy.
I held my breath when I let the dogs out. I was expecting the worst. Not even the littlese twig down. Lots of water and the cable for the patio lights split apart, so they hang low enough for the kids to touch them. Once all its weather silliness stops, I'll need to ask a Wammyville dad for help figuring out how to attach more wire.
Two chairs were blown over.
Breakfast with the Zimmerman's at our favorite bagel place, Everything Bagel in Eastgate.
In between the wind and raindrops, I scurried out to pick some flowers before they were all on the ground. The first bouquet of the season.
Once the power came back on, I headed to the basement for some sewing time with a book in my ears. And I might have even gotten all the laundry finished! Which is a huge bonus.
Sewing projects for the twins is complete!
Now time to catch up on my watercolor once-a-day calendar and the next Practice Book activity with Andrea Nelson.
What an unexpected gift today was!
