We Did A Little Something

We have been looking for a puppy.  It just doesn't seem right not having a dog around.  I have had a dog all my life.  Mark said after Stitch and Ella were gone we wouldn't have any more dogs.  Little did I know he has been looking.  So at midnight on Friday night, we were shopping for dog supplies at WalMart!

We got up at 3:30am so we could be on the road at 4AM headed to the KY/TN border where we met the breeder and he had delivered the dogs and all their paperwork.

We had talked about getting one puppy.  But who could leave this little face behind?  The last one in the litter to be all alone without any brothers or sisters to grow up with.

We also tossed names around.  I knew immediately what their names would be but Mark has other ideas.  Mark calls the Brownie and Blackie.  If he doesn't stop they will be so confused.

So please meet Imogene (brown) and Gladys (black).  Their names are from our favorite Christmas book, The Best Christmas Pagent Ever, which we read out loud every Christmas.  One of our many Christmas traditions.

They are 10 weeks old Mini Aussies.  They will grow to be about 12-15 inches tall and weigh 20-25 pounds.  They are full of energy and lots of fun.  They run across the backyard like lightening.

And they crash.

We wanted to get them while the yahoos weren't here to give them a chance to get a lay of the land and get a few things under their belts...like asking to go out to go to the bathroom.  We have been reading up and watching YouTube videos about care.  So far so good.  We plan to take then camping, hiking, kayaking...everything we do outside...they will be right there with us.

We didn't tell any of the kids what we were doing.  Michael was the first one to meet them.  He came into the family room and when he saw them he said, 'who do these adorable little puppies belong to?'  When I told them us, he smiled the biggest smile I have ever seen and got right down on the floor with them.  I think he likes them.

And then they were off on their first adventure with the Ellis family...BIGGBY Coffee.
