Visiting An Old Friend

It is funny how things work out.

When my dad began this adventure I prayed that God would place the special people in our path.  He did that first thing for sure.  Long story short...one of the chemo nurses, his favorite, is the daughter of his best work buddy for years and years at INCO.  In talking with LeeAnn we found out that her dad is dealing with dementia.  That crushed my dad.  I maybe can count on one hand how many times I have seen my dad cry.  That day he cried twice.  He also told LeeAnne that he wanted to go visit Billy Jack.  I was worried how it would be and how they would react to each other.

When we drove up, LeeAnne and Billy Jack were standing in the big front window.  When we walked in LeeAnne asked her dad is he know who it was.  He looked my dad directly in the eyes and said, 'Why yes, it's Ray".  Then he smiled the biggest smile.  He grabbed my dad's hand and never let go.  We all cried.

They found a couch and began going down memory lane.

This is beyond priceless!  The best picture of the year!

They talked and giggles.

A very emotional time for all of us.

LeeAnne and I looked down about the same time and saw that they had on the same shoes and same socks.

It was a great visit!  I am hoping when my dad gets to feeling better we might make another trip
Thank you LeeAnne for all you do.  And he is missing his chicken salad sandwiches!
