The Great Christmas Tree Hunt

Another fun family adventure....We (I) decided that we should cut down our own
Christmas tree this year.  I have always wanted to do that.  While I was visiting the Amish farm, Cedarmore Farm CSA in Hillsboro, the boys were on a mission to find us a tree lot.  When I got home we headed out.  Plan A...We just happened on a sign that said cut your own tree.  Only problem not a person or tree in sight.  And the place was really creepy!Plan B...go to a nursery in Goshen.  We drove and drove and drove and finally called for more direction.  Sorry we no longer have a tree lot.  Seriously people remove your add from the Internet.  Plan C...drive to another nursery also near Goshen.  We arrived 5 minutes after they closed.  But we had a plan for the next day...right after church head to Dirr Nurseries in Goshen.

Guess what else they had....

He was calling my name can't you tell!

they had all kinds of trees.  We decided to check these Canaan firs out.  I liked the name because it reminded me of Canaan Valley in WV.  Just knew this was going to be the kind we got this year.

We really weren't dressed for this because Mark was under the impression that they would be cutting the tree for us.  Nope Michael was going to be our cutter.

A little instruction from me...

Pointers from the Christmas Tree King (for years in WV after we were married we had a HUGE Christmas Tree lot)

He was doing great until he got a bloody nose.  He was out for the count!

Mark sawed.  I help pressure on the trunk.

Michael said that I probably would not be able to carry the tree.  Ha!

He did help put it on top of the van.

Team work!

We got there and there weren't many people because we went to early church.   But on our way out, it was starting to get crowded.

This was the best thing I have ever seen on a tree lot.  An automatic dead needle shaker-outer!

It had to be wrapped for easier transportation.

They even tied it on top of your vehicle.

Now comes the trimming process.  Good job boys!

Michael carried the tree in and helped me get it in the stand.  Now the house smells wonderful!  I'll let the limbs drop and then on with the lights.  think that is as far as I will get to go tonight.  Tomorrow is another decorating day.  I'm being called to help with the outside decorations now.

It is 10:20PM and I am enjoying the twinkle!
