Another Great Night At Carneys

I am such a cheap date...but I'm fun!  Visiting Carneys is always fun.  We get our chicken supplies from them.  Never have I gone in there that I haven't been greeted with a smile and a kind word.  They always answer my silly chicken questions.  They know so much.  When they host these classes they always fix my dinner.  Last night the fried chicken was awesome, potato casserole even better than awesome, and a vegetable tray that not only was delicious but really colorful..  And they always come through for my sweet tooth with brownies, cookies, and cupcakes.  And it is FREE!  Se told you I was a cheap date.

I've been waiting to hear The Chicken Whisperer and learn about what he knows best...raising backyard chickens.  I've read about him in several blogs and then there is the magazine, Chicken Whisperer.  And I like him on FB.  I bought the book and I get the online version of Chicken Whisperer Magazine.  I think I have all bases covered.  You are never to old to learn something new.  And I always learn something new when I go to Carneys!

His presentation is very informative and you can tell that he knows what he is talking about.  He does the research...SHOW ME THE PROOF.

His real name is Andy Schneider in case you want to look him up on listen to one of his radio broadcasts.
'I'm Andy Schneider, AKA The Chicken Whisperer.  I'm the author of 'The Chicken Whisperer's Guide To Keeping Chickens, a national spokesperson for the USDA-APHIS Biosecurity for Birds Program, host of the popular web radio show, Backyard Poultry with The chicken Whisperer, and most recently editor in chief of The Chicken Whisperer Magazine.  My experience based articles will share ideas I have learned over the years to help you keep chickens the right way the first time to save your time and money.'

Of course I got the book...autographed too!

Some interesting chicken facts I learned last night.  I learned lots of new things that you really wouldn't find too interesting.  But here are some fun facts that you can impress your friends with.

Fact 1:  Did you know that you can rent a chicken.  Yep for $150 a month you get the whole ball of wax.  They bring the coop and set it up.  Get everything ready for you.  And if you want all you have to do is feed and water them and collect the eggs.  And when you get tired of you little whim, they come and pick it up.

Fact 2:  The oldest chicken know and in the Guinness Book Of World Records was 22 years old.

Fact 3:  The big end of the chicken is laid first.
