Morning Adventure To Southport, NC

A friend of ours vacationed at Holden Beach the week of July 4th.  Their daughters decided to go check out Southport.  Little did they know that this little community for 200 years  has been celebrating our nation's independence in a very big way.  Their festival attracts 40-50,000 people.
They also told me that this is where they filmed some of Safe Haven, a book by Nicholas Sparks.

It is a wonderful little southern town with all that is southern...big front porches lined with rockers, sprawling oak trees with Spanish moss hanging down from the limbs, lots of little shops...delightful place.

We found a bakery...go figure!

Too many, way too many choices!  As usual we bought four or five different treats and shared them all.

Nothing better than carrot cake at 8:30 AM.

We stopped on Oak Island to check out the houses and the beach.  If you look far enough down the beach, we could see four water towers...one was Holden Beach.

Southport...we will return.
