'Mud Race"
Emmy has found a new passion...what Alaire affectionately calls Mud Racing. It is actually pretty fun and a blast to watch! So this weekend Cassie, the kids and Maddie came up for the day to go to the Mudathlon in Carrollton, KY.
Emmy made sure that we all has tie-dyed shirts.
And they are off...looking good and confident.
Good thing because here is the first obstacle. Made it thru with flying colors.
Our job is to find viewing spots where we can both see and cheer for our team of 'Mudders'. This course was not so good for that. Most of the course was in the woods on the other side of the lake. So we sat and waited for them to cross the water in three different places. The race started at 9:30. By noon they still hadn't passed this spot. I was getting worried. And I didn't know until after the race that they were worried that they hadn't seen the cheering section. When I saw a group that I thought they might be in, I would take a pic with my telephoto lens then zoom it in to check....no Team Hippie.
This was at the beginning of our waiting period. By then end he was slumped over with his hoodie on mumbling to himself. Not such a happy camper.
All Ellis wanted to do was run the race. He just couldn't understand why he couldn't do it too. Emmy, if you can hang on long enough I think Ellis might be a life time team member.
Alaire was part girl.....then her tomboy side kicked in.
Digging big rocks to throw into the lake to sink floating pieces of wood. "Ellis use you math skills to dig it out."
No wonder the kid's back hurts today.
And that is just what they were hoping for.
Still looking good after hours of racing.
One causality...Brooke has retired from racing. She thru her shoulder out (for the thrid time) and had to be evacuated from the course by gator. She is a trooper!
Emmy is already planning for the Mudathlon in August in the Cincinnati area...anyone want to join the team?
