2012 Airplane Derby

Master's hands at work folding what is is hoping to be a good flier.  We are praying for a better flier than last years disappointing 'backwards flips coming back at you plane'.

Our Den was in charge of presenting the colors.  Excellent job!

And then we did a whole lot of this...waiting, waiting, and more waiting.  There are a lot of scouts to go thru before it was our turn.

Each scout is given 8 minutes to fold and prefect his flier.  There manes must be on them.  They have a option to use a paperclip.  No parents fingers are to touch the paper at any time from this point on.

Getting the the right point.

Seriously thinking about changing the design half way thru the eight minutes.

First dry run

I think he is happy with his design.

This is one sweet, sweet boy!

This one, well let's just say that he is a piece of work!

checking out the competition

You may think that Waytt is showing you the peace sign...nope...that is the universal scout sign for please be quiet and listen I have something important you need to know.

Well, our first throw didn't go as far as we had hopes...how do we fix that?

concentration...and it paid off...went straight thru the hoop...on to round two

I needed to be just a little quicker on the picture taking button...missed the shot but you can tell by the smile that he also made it to round two.

Round Three...we almost made it...Wyatt just missed by the outside right edge and Michael hit the post about two inches short.  A few of our boys came home with trophies, which is great.  We did our best and had a great time.  Already talking about next years plan of attack.

Hey Dawn....Wyatt's patches are in his right breast pocket of his uniform.
