Estes Park

Estes Park is one of my favorite places...well, not so much the little place but the drive up the mountain.

I am always amazed at the difference in the terrain.  So flat and barren where Cassie is.  The to the foot hills where things start to change.

And all the different turns and shapes of the rock.  Ans the colors are so different.

And then you start to see the snow...and it even snowed a little bit on us.

Can you imagine seeing a small herd of elk in town?

The Twin Owls in the Rocky Mountain National Park

These are the patches that represent the trails int he Rockies.  The Oakes Family collect them.  Every time the successfully hike a trail the kids get a patch and Cassie sews them on their camel backs.  Pretty impressive!

One of our favorite shops...the candy store.  It was so hard to decide.

We decided to splurge and have lunch at Village Pizza.

Alaire had a few quarters to put in the machine...I don't think she ever really knew what she was supposed to do.  She didn't care at all.

Ellis rode the motorcycles.

Cassie holding down the table and playing games on her phone.  She had to escape from the craziness somehow.  I don't know if you can see it or not but there is a Cincinnati reds pennant on the wall.  Ellis was excited about that.

Michael created his own pizza...all kinds of meats.  And he decided to try the deep dish crust...which was a big hit!

Cassie and I decided to try two different pizzas...this is a carne paradiso.

This was my favorite...the raspberry zinger.

Michael couldn't wait to try his rock candy sucker.  I think he might just have a little bit left.
