Road Trip Down Memory Lane

Yesterday afternoon I headed out to Nicholasville, KY. A very good friend, a family I grew up with in the summers at Dale Hollow Lake (Star Point) had invited me to her daughter's wedding. I have so been looking forward to seeing everyone ant attending the wedding. The Chrisman Mill Vineyard was the setting. God provided the rolling thunder...thunder like we heard at Star Point rumbling thur the hills around the lake. Everything was beautiful! Carrie looked amazing. Joe and Anne haven't changed a bit. Jody and Sandy...well, lets just say we picked right up where we left off some 20 years ago. I wish I had more confidence in my photo abilities and I wasn't so nervous about making a scene with my camera (haven't figured out how to make it take silent pics yet...I know there is a setting but just not sure where it is.) I could kick myself for not taking more to share. I'm hoping Sandy will share when she gets hers from the photographer.

I was cracking up when I saw this at the top of the hill. My chariot to the wedding. I tried to get him to let me drive...don't think he trusted me to bring the cart back. That was fun!

When I walked in I found Sandy fixing some flowers. We both cried just for a second. She looked stunning all dressed up. You need to understand we only saw each other in bathing suits and shorts during our summers together. She immediately had Carrie come out of the dressing room to see me and for me to see how beautiful Carrie looked. I my mind the last pictures I remember seeing of Carrie was the one where I am trying to get a splinter out of her finger and she is going on like I am going to cut her hand off with a butcher knife.

In the program, Kaya is listed as the Flower Princess. And a princess she was. Brian and Carrie are adopting Kaya soon. And everyone could not be more thrilled!

The ceremony was held at the bottom of the stairs in a beautiful vineyard, complete with a tree arch to walk thru over a little wooden bridge to a pergola with a huge rock paved patio.

Jody got me a piece of this beautiful cake. I don't know what the icing was but it was to die for. A taste that I just can't tell you the flavor...very unique. I'll let you know when I find out. Delicious and beautiful to boot.

Carrie's Grand daddy Joe walked her down the aisle and gave her away...her mother and the rest of the family...was his response to the pastor question as to who gives the bride away... priceless!

The pastor did a very nice job and we all had a good laugh when Kaya said a very straight forward and rather loud GROSS when Carrie and Brian kissed.

I wish I had more pic of the family but it is so hard to eat, talk, laugh, eat some more, drink good punch and meet people...How do photographers do it? But I did manage to tear myself away to get a picture of Carrie and Joe dancing their dance. How sweet it is. I'm really disappointed that I didn't take a picture of the whole family. But I am sure the photographer will have some really good shots. I'm hoping they will be posted of FB so I can maybe borrow a few.

Carrie's flowers were beautiful. What am I saying, everything was beautiful!

One day next week Brian, Carrie, Kaya, and Sandy will be driving back to CO. Sandy will stay with Kaya while Carrie and Brian enjoy a honeymoon in Hawaii. Wishing them all the best!

Just a little side note...It was fun to be driving in the Blue Grass State again. We have traveled these road many times to Asbury College and ICHTHUS...the horse farms, slave walls, old barns, the smell of fresh cut fields, that just before a rain smell, the old Circuit City Store, Lexington Green, the road to Cassie and Jen's first apartment, Wal-Mart, Sonic...lots of memories going thru my head...good thing I had a clue where I was going or I could have ended up at the TN/KY border.

Thanks for a great day Sandy!
