It Was Supposed To Be Fun

I should have known...got up late, got out the door late, rain, lots of rain, lightening, hydroplaning on the Interstate, being stopped by the police officer because the timing maps were down in the road in front of me (thankfully only half the road blocked), having to drop Peep off (at the wrong spot) at the bottom of the hill with his cane, chair and BIG umbrella, locked keys in the van...with the spare key in there too...missed seeing Tini, more standing in the rain, just happened to see Emmy and Erika trying to tell Mark where we are, (he borrowed The Amicon's van to pick up us), walking back up the hill with my Dad and Michael (furthest my Dad has walked since his knee surgery),waiting for Mark, waiting on the police officer with the lock kit (he never showed), sitting and standing on the sidewalk outside the van in the rain waiting, waiting and waiting some more...$55 unlock my door by the locksmith, trying to get downtown with the 80 year old with a bad knee and a BORED 8 year old along with thousands of people to see Emmy and Erika finish the race, (didn't even get out of the car), trying to figure out how in the world we were going to find the girls to get them home (a friend of Erik'a Dad took them to the race,...no phones or $ and I was their ride home with dry clothes and shoes)...but the best part is that we made it home with two Frisch's fish sandwiches for Peep and Michael was able to warm up his leftover bacon cheeseburger. Somehow the Elam's got the girls and they are safe and sound at Erika's. Michael is in his pj's and Peep and Stitch are snoring in the recliner. It really was supposed to be fun!

Sorry your day was not so much fun. Greg can definitely relate. Way to go Emmy! Great achievement.

I always thought Mark had told you how I taught him to take care of his car keys. I will explain to you: Give your husband a set, put a set in your wallet, hide one under the door mat, give your daughter one. Also, a trusting neighbor. When all else fails, call father-in-law for advise.

Before we pulled out of the driveway I told my Dad I was sure that this was going to be a big adventure...and was it ever. I know my family will never let me live it down...already Mark teased me this morning about it. Of the jobs of being the DoughDough!y
